Slightly Unsucessful Unplug and Read

I have made progress on the Dream bookmark for the Grow Your Blog prize. I have charted Topcho's Madam name, maybe since Tuesday is Mardi Gras I will be inspired to stitch Mardi Gras colors. Though not while drinking. Having a beer while watching hockey and stitching resulted in the off placement of part of the stem on Dream but it's not going to effect the placement of anything else so it stays! The TUSAL jar is hiding it a bit. ;) I swear the widgit I have on here has the wrong moon phases is today really the new moon? Also this is the start of Unplug and Read. I pledged 7+ hours and I read for about an hour and 20 min today. I had a Doctor Who due back at the library that I hadn't listened to the audio commentary or the special features on so I did that first while stitching :) The I read some crafty books and through some food magazines. Wrote up my reviews for the Library Winter Reads. The books were Eco Books by Terry Taylor and Art at the Speed of Life by Pam Carriker. Really great craft books to get you thinking. Though I did think what on earth would I do with all those books if I were to make them though it has given me second thoughts on throwing out my cereal boxes and I do have a huge bag o plastic bags. The Art at the Speed of Life was good on advice to get yourself creating everyday even if you don't do mixed media art. I did like the little art journal so there's one book I could make for myself. I haven't started the art journal challenge over at Flying Unicorn's forums though it looks like a fun challenge. I have journals but ones you write in and the pages are normal weight so a bit to flimsy. Tomorrow after work and gym I hope to get busy on some cards. I need to make a Valentine for hubs and then I had done some other bookmarks with paint chips again for my stitchy friends. Like they want another one after the Christmas ones but they were too fun not to. I missed my Aunt and Uncles Anniversary and one Aunt is about to have her 60th birthday and my other Aunt and Uncle's Anniversary is this weekend too. (For some reason they thought it was a good idea to get married on his sisters birthday but it works) I should also make a friendship card for a good friend of mine who even though we're in our 30's is still being bullied by people. It's just not right. I hope everyone had a nice weekend and makes time to read and craft this week!

WIPoclaypse April

 I started on the Iguana bookmark yesterday.  I found out I won a free pattern from Funk and Weber and it's the week to donate bookmarks.  So I better get busy!  I did a lot of that at work today, I had this piece so I'm stitching over one and I think I need to find me a smaller needle.  I also need to get reading with them!  I still haven't participated in the book group except I think when they were discussing The Graveyard Book.  I had all ready read that one.  Right now they're reading The Help, that may be on the Hot Reads at the library so I may have to pay for it.  Currently I finished a book about Glock, I'm reading a book called Moby-Duck.  It's about how the author tried to track down a lost shipment of children's toys.  Then I have the Graphic Novels Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.  Even if you don't think you're a Graphic Novel person you should read these, they are an autobiography of her life growing up in Iran during the revolutions and the wars.  I think the last book ended in the 80's when she was being sent away and then Persepolis 2 is about her return, I finished the first book but haven't started the 2nd.  Tomorrow at work my friend is bringing me a copy of The Hunger Games since I don't seem to get around to reading it on my husbands tablet.

 I've stitched a bit on Dolly Mama.  I was hoping to do Amazon April over at It's Geek to Me's Blog and stitch on my Dragon piece but the best time to do that is weekends and it looks pretty full.  I may need to work ot hours on this and next Friday.  Saturday is the MS Walk if anyone would like to donate to team Cook Bacon I'd appreciate it.  My friend Bacon and I will be walking 2 miles because that's her limit ;)  I also signed up for the one in my town but I found out that's the weekend that hubs and I were going to Chattanooga for a special event at the Aquarium.  A new exhibit is opening and they are having a member event.  We don't have to stay Saturday but I don't want to feel rushed getting back and I don't have anyone else walking with me in that event anyway.  Bacon's not going to drive that far, it's far enough to get to Nashville.

I haven't been posting Dress Up Day pics because they are too repetitive.  I did like this outfit though with my layered stockings.  You can see a bit in the picture that the fishnets are shiny.  I needed a purple shiny day to give me a boost.  Work is :p and it's my fault, I failed two of my surveys.  Bah humbug but it'll get better.  OH and last weekend we went out to Opry Mills because they had just reopened and I got a dress at Old Navy so I'll take a pic when I wear that but it's too casual to wear to work.  Granted I'll end up wearing my plaid baby doll dress to work if I go in on Friday 13th ;)  Also, some women need a memo that leggings are not the same thing as pants.  I was complaining to my boss but they aren't enforcing the dress code as strictly as they said they would.  Then some of the people on my team were wearing them too and even though they were curvy it still looked OK, but there was someone I saw today that I just thought "Did you look at yourself in the mirror before you went out?"
Ah well, It's also the start of the Stanley Cup Finals, in Hockey.  First game was tonight and my Penguins lost to hubs Flyers in ot 4-3.  Which wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't been up 3-0 at the end of the first :p  We need to do better!!  I should be stitching my hockey stitch while watching the game then huh?  I think it's been two finals that I've stitched through now and the thing still isn't done!

Ferret Friday Fast Track and Hockey Day

 Friday Fast Track at Scrapping The Moments.  Quick LO looked for a pic and found my car and I don't think I had scrapped it yet.  I think of my car as my TARDIS.  I smiled all the first month every time I was thinking I didn't want to go to work but at least I got to drive my car!  The journaling is about how I'm contemplating getting it as my actual license tag.

 And he has a paw!  Will stitch a bit more on him later, got home and did the LO and had dinner but I took a picture since I was snapping the LO at the same time.

Today was wear your Jersey Day for Hockey in America.  Hubs was wondering why I was wearing it since my team doesn't have a game today.  Actually my team and hubs is playing tomorrow but as it's on NHL it's blacked out in our system so we'll have to watch it later.  Plus a friend invited me over to scrapbook and I have stitching later that afternoon ;)  So I'll be nice and busy and just crossing my fingers the Penguins beat the Flyers :D  (Yes I know we're fans of rival teams and if we had grown up in Pennsylvania this might have been a huge problem but we lived and met in FL and were happy to find a hockey fan!)

No Pants (sort of) Day 6

I started out the day in blue sweats to take down the xmas stuff.
Then I changed into this to go out and about with Hubs.

When we got done and home I gravitated to my computer and began playing games even though for a January day it was Gorgeous and in the 60's. Hubs came by and said it'd be a nice day to ride my bike. I had thought about it but I would have had to change. Or would I? After finishing my game I went looking for hubs and couldn't find him and I saw the bike just sitting there in the garage. You know what, they make women's bikes with that V because they had originally needed the clearance for their dresses to stay modest. Also had the mental image of an episode of House Hunters and the lady wanted a house close to work and she was all dressed in her work clothes and pumps that she hooked in the heels into the bike pedals. (no idea how she then got off the bike) So what the heck, I didn't want to ruin my hose though so on came some thermal pants and my regular work out pants.

Then cleaned up my room a bit and got ready to craft over at Scrapping the Moments Friday Fast Track
So I scrapped a page in an hour an half which is a bit slow for me, I can usually get one in an hour but knowing I had the time I played around with my new Fiskars Interchangeable punches.

I used some Bella Blvd all Inclusive papers I had one last year, Fiskars stamps for the butterflies and Tim Holt's Distress Ink and Embossing powder in Tea Dye. OH and some beige 1/8th inch quilling paper in beige to thread through on the title. The background card stock it Core'dinations. I had cut out the middle of the paper to practice with the punch but I couldn't figure out how to corner with the dang thing.

Still listening to Penguins play hockey and they're losing :( Still one period left to go. So going to file the nail I cut while I was scrapping and stitch a little bit during the last period. Then maybe I'll eat something for dinner.

Today's Stitches

My friend had Cabin Fever so I had her pick me up for lunch today because I figured she had a little more experience driving on ice than I did. Not really but she wasn't freaking out like I would have been. We went out to eat sushi. Here's my yummy bento box.

Then we went 'window' shopping. Yeah there might have been an oops on the look but don't buy but my friend made sure I'd use it and I made sure she'd use her stuff too ;)
After the 'window' shopping she had to run by my place so I could get my stitching so I could stitch while we watched a movie at her place. I forgot my scissors so I had to use giant ones and also got into the fact that I had three pairs of scissors for Cross-stitch. She was like you need 3 pairs of scissors for cross-stitch? I told her no but explained the three scissors I had and that I used to have 4 but one got lost (and it had a big fob on it too I was mad!) I also had to explain fobs to her and she didn't get that either. She had to look it up on the after I told her it wasn't any more pointless than tea cozies or knitted ipod covers! (Yeah she had to look up both of those too :D )
So here's what I got done on my Love Quilt Square while watching Easy A (hilarious btw) and half of Despicable Me! (also, hilarious and family friendly!) {We watched half of the movie because my friend likes the It's So Fluffy! line where they 'win' the Unicorn}



Then she dropped me off back home and later on was the hockey game so I went back and did the top of the tree that I had to frog yesterday and started on some light gray too. My team won 5-2 so I'm taking that as a good sign that I didn't mess up anywhere else.



Tomorrow is yet another snow day :p I'm going to try to clean some of the house before I watch movies and sit on my butt. Maybe I'll even clean my craft room and scrapbook! (gasp my other friend will do a happy dance if I scrapbook!)

Snow Day

Snowy Day today so getting ready to watch Close Encounters and stitch my big piece. Later this evening my hockey team will play so I will stitch on my Hockey piece. I think the snowy tree will be a good thing to continue today.

Hockey Stitch 2

Here is the Christmas Stitch from last year in February. The only time I actually posted that month! That has the picture of what the project will look like.

Last night I stitched while watching my team lose :p No Hockey today. I have to finish reading a book to get it back to the library and then I might go over to a friends house so she can help me sew something :)


If you can't tell a bit of the tree limbs got done this time.

Hockey Stitch

This was last year's Christmas Stitch that I was supposed to work on one week out of every month. I had gotten it in December and started on a bit of it during Christmas before that and hoped the challenge would help me continue. I also stitched on it during Hockey games (or more accurately the darn commercials they replay every break)
Then came May and my team was in the Stanley Cup playoffs and lost to one of the representatives teams in piece. So didn't want to stitch on it after that :p

Hubs was upstairs watching his hockey game so I figured that was a good time to pull this out and start stitching again. My team plays later tonight so if I listen to the game I might get more done on it! If I find a feed to watch it, it will be stitch, stitch, hold needle in air until there's a stop in play, oh darn where was I?
